 Is ethanol corrosive? |
Ethanol is not in itself very corrosive, although it can contain a very small amount of water. When water and air is mixed you get rust. Ethanol is water soluble so it has an attraction to water (like a sponge). OEM engineers were given a task in the early 1990's to design vehicles to conform to ethanol.
Automotive engineers do not design something that is ALMOST safe or can ALMOST meet a standard. Rather, engineers design above and beyond the requirements needed. So it's difficult to see why we would presently be using ethanol in a small amount in our gasoline if there was just a small amount of risk involved. That just doesn't happen!!

| Do I have to change my gas tank? |

The need to change your gas tank is a myth. Most vehicles from the early 1990's through today have tanks that are molded out of either teflon or polymer material. Although ethanol will clean the impurities left behind from the dirty gasoline we use in our fuel system, we recommend changing your fuel filter a couple of times and possibly the fuel pump as well until all impurities are removed. 90% of all fuel injectors are self-cleaning and the use of ethanol will only add to the cleaning nature of the fuel injectors.

| Is it legal? Does the E.P.A. approve? |

The E.P.A has made a policy amendment to converting vehicles to run on E85, and it almost seems as though the ethanol gods are pushing for less stringent laws than the E.P.A. has enforced in the past. Many government officials are also pushing for the use of flex fuel vehicles and are demanding and encouraging auto makers to make more. The amendment states that any vehicle conversion must meet or exceed the OEM emission standard. Ethanol emits far less than the emission standard. In fact, tests indicate as much as 70% less pollution with ethanol than any other fuel on the market.

| Is there a tax credit? |

In some states that have a large public need there is up to a 100% rebate for converting you car to run on ethanol. We have discovered that in Illinois there is an 80% rebate available to any that do so. If you live in Iowa a new law was passed that stating that the owner of any vehicle converted to run on ethanol should contact the county treasurer to obtain a sticker that is to be placed on the windshield within 30 days of the conversion.

The use of ethanol has allowed Brazil to become independent from foreign oil and has been proven to be a cleaner more practical fuel than gasoline.

Can we do the same in the United States? We hate to say it, but we and many others believe the big oil companies have intentionally stifled the use of ethanol, and created myths and untrue statements in order to protect their cash cow: OIL!!!
